DJ Charlie Hedges

KISS FM’s Charlie Hedges is the youngest female breakfast DJ in the UK. She’s interviewed everyone from Justin Timberlake to Rhianna. She’s starring in new series ‘Burning the Candle at Both Ends’ on BBC3. This summer, witness her first ever residency at Space, Ibiza with Pukka Up.

I managed to get an Exclusive Interview with Charlie, we talk about Carl Cox, Space in Ibiza and Upcoming Gigs.

JAMZ - Carl Cox is my Hero! The first time I really experienced Electronic music was in 1998 at a Rave in DurbanSouth Africa, which Mr Cox Headlined. Since then Ive been hooked onto Electronic Music. What Does it Feel Like to know that this Easter you will be playing with the Godfather of Techno himself?

Charlie - He has been and still continues to inspire me so I'm really excited it's going to be an amazing night and I feel privileged to be on the line-up!

JAMZ - How have you been preparing for your Set at Electric Brixton?

Charlie - In all honesty I never prepare this far ahead for sets, it's all about feeling the vibe on the night, capturing that and letting the music reflect that so of course I have some tracks I'm hoping to play but I'm looking forward to getting there and getting involved.

JAMZ - What does your DJ Setup look like? Do you prefer using CDJs or are you a Digital DJ?

Charlie - I play off USB now so still using CDJ's but I've recently converted to USB, it also means less things to carry and more arms to party and throw myself around with :)

JAMZ - Do you Produce your own tracks?

Charlie - I am working on producing some tracks yes but I have a crazy year ahead with gigs and I have my very first compilation album coming out in a few months too so I'm working on that at the min, I am mixing one CD in a 3 CD album. But this will definitely happen soon.

JAMZ - Ive been told that DJing at Space in Ibiza is the most euphoric and amazing feeling a DJ could ever experience. Are you ready to experience some of the Best Moments of your Career?

Charlie - I played in Space last year for the first time and I honestly got really chocked up, I was so happy, all I can describe it as is the same feeling I had when I very first played a set out it was a feeling of achievement beyond believe and I'm looking forward to being back there more than I can explain to you this year, as well as playing in Ushuaia which has only just literally been confirmed.

JAMZ - This Summer you will have your first residency at this Legendary Club. How do you plan on Keeping things Fresh and Exciting at the club that’s seen it all?

Charlie - It's down to the music you play be it new stuff people haven't heard of or bringing some of the classics back in that people live and breathe for, but most of all keeping to the sound of what people recognise as being my sound. Ultimately the crowd are the most important people in that club so I'm always watching and always observant and hopefully with this combo I'll keep things exciting.

JAMZ - What Genre of Music will you be playing in Ibiza?

Charlie - I play electro with a twist, make sure you guys pop along to a gig if you're coming out too!
